The journey to the Langtang Valley and Gosainkund begins with a drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, a village inhabited by Sherpas very close to Langtang National Park. We head eastward, crossing Trishuli River several times and enter the valley of Langtang. Oak and rhododendron forests, naturally at their best during spring, are encountered and so is a glacial moraine on the way to Langtang village where Tamang people have settled for centuries.
Kyangin Gompa, which lies further up the valley, is another major stopover and is famous for yak cheese. We continue our journey through small villages nestled in a hidden valley and view several glaciers marking the gateway to Tibet. We then backtrack through Thulo Syabru and Sing Gompa and then to the high plateau where the sacred Gosainkund Lake is situated.
From Gosainkund our journey takes us through Laurebina and the Helambu valley finally ending near Kathmandu.
