Mountaneering in Nepal

Nepal offers unlimited possibilities to mountaineers all over the world. The decade of 1950’s, known as the Golden Decade of Climbing, was when most of the peaks over 8000 m were conquered. Today Nepal has officially opened about 326 peaks for mountaineering. Out of those, liaison officers are not required for expeditions to about 121 peaks, whereas it is compulsory in the case of the remaining peaks.

Mountaineers must acquire climbing permits for desired peaks from the Mountaineering Section of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal. Likewise, you can buy or rent required climbing gears and equipment in any of the related stores in Kathmandu.

Venture Nepal can manage everything for you and allow you focus on your real goal. We will take care of all the required logistics including gear, food, transportation, guide and porter charges. In case of emergencies, we can also provide helicopter rescues and seek the best medical services available providing you have acquired the correct personal insurance prior to the trip.

Island Peak Mountaineering

Island Peak (6198m) is surrounded by two beautiful glaciers, Lhotse and Lhotse Shar and below it lies the settlement of Chhukung, home of the native Sherpas. Island Peak is not technically very difficult and climbers with just intermediate level mountaineering skills can successfully make it to the summit with our professional guides. Island Peak is an ideal first peak for a taste of real mountaineering in the Himalayas.
